The iPad Makes Waves…Again

May 21st, 2010 by Jeff

Apple has done it again. They have created a product that has so much hype surrounding it that it sold out on the first day of availability. Today, Apple announced that the iPad had sold one million units in just 28 days from launch. Historically, tablet PCs have fared poorly in the marketplace, but Apple believes they can succeed with a tablet that is little more than a large iPhone.

The iPad is undoubtedly a magnificent device. It is large, lightweight, and has very few buttons. Best of all, it runs the mobile operating system we are all familiar with from the iPhone and iPod Touch, and works with iTunes and the App Store for all your favorite applications.

If you are looking for a device that will allow you to check email, read books, and watch movies while on the go, the iPad is your choice. However, if you think that because of its bigger size and bigger on-screen keyboard that the iPad can completely replace your laptop for tasks like document editing and typing long emails, then the iPad is not the device for you. This first-generation device has much potential room for improvement, and the second and third generations should far outshine this version.
