Google Search Page Gets Custom Background Images

June 7th, 2010 by Jeff

Google announced in a blog posting on June 2 that they would now allow users to setup a customized background image for Google.com. Microsoft Bing has had a photographic image background on their site since launch, but the image is selected daily by Microsoft, and users are unable to change the image that is displayed.

Google allows users three methods for customizing their background image. Users can upload images from their computer, select images from their Picassa Web Albums, or select an image from the Public Picassa albums. With these options, users can personalize thier Google homepage much the same way they can their desktop, with images that they find appealing.
