Automatically White-list Email Senders with Barracuda Outlook Plugin

January 29th, 2009 by Jeff

Have you ever wondered why some emails get through the email filtering provided by Austin Lane and others don’t? One of the biggest reasons is one that you may not realize. The Barracuda Outlook plug-in that should be installed on your system to allow you to mark email as SPAM or not as SPAM provides some extra functionality.

What extra features does it have? Let me explain. The Barracuda Outlook plug-in will scan your Outlook contacts folder for email addresses. As it does so, it will add any email addresses that it finds to your personal white list. In addition, any time you send an email to another person, their email address is automatically added to your personal white list. What this means for you is that if there is someone that you want to be able to get email from without it being marked as SPAM, you should add their contact information, including email address, to your contacts folder and the Barracuda Outlook plug-in will take care of the rest.

This functionality only works with customers that utilize Austin Lane’s email filtering to protect their email inboxes from SPAM and viruses/malware. In addition, the Barracuda Outlook plug-in must be installed.
