Google Street View
June 8th, 2007 by JeffAs has been the case for the last few years, Google is continuing to innovate with new and exciting products. One of these such products is Google Street View. Google Street View allows you to see street-level images of a few, select cities. These areas that are viewable in Google Street View are New York City, New York, San Francisco, California, Miami, Florida, Denver, Colorado, and Las Vegas, Nevada.
It seems there are is some opposition to Google Street View from privacy advocates. This stems from the fact that Google Street View relies on a vehicle driving around these cities taking photographs of what is on each side of the street and in front of them. When this happens, the streets are not cleared, and there are people that have been captured in some of these images, sometimes in embarrassing situations.
Another way people are utilizing Google Street View is to find out which vehicle is being used to take the photos. They are searching the images in these cities for reflections in windows of what may or may not be the car utilized for these images.
Google designed Google Street View to allow users to tour a city virtually. This means that you can navigate down the street and see the same scenery that is available if you were there in person. It can also be used to find businesses on these streets to help travelers know where they are going when they have to look up directions to their destinations.
