Google Maps — New Features

July 18th, 2007 by Jeff

If anyone is like me, there are occasions where I need to look at a map to find out where I am going, and how to get there. One of my favorite mapping sites, Google Maps, now has a new feature. This new feature allows you to customize the route that you travel from point A to point B.

The first thing you need to do is to visit Google Maps. After you are there, get directions to the 1600 Pensylvania Drive, Washington D.C. from your home. For me, this map would look something like this. After you do this, find the blue line that shows that route you will take. Move your mouse over the blue line, and it should allow you to drag and drop the line to a new route that will take you to your destination. While the custom-designed route may not be the shortest, it would be very useful for people to utilize to avoid construction or known traffic delays.
