100-Mbs Symmetrical for only $48.50
October 1st, 2007 by JeffThis offer is not from one of the local companies like Verizon that is connecting homes with Fios, but is actually only available in Hong Kong, where Hong Kong Broadband Network just launched fiber-to-the-home services. You can also get 1Gbps symmetrical connectivity for a cool $215 per month, but again, it is only available in Hong Kong.
If you are ever talking to anyone that claims that the United States is not behind in Broadband connectivity, this one example of what can be done in Hong Kong with Fiber to the home invalidates their arguments. If you are lucky, you may be able to get 5Mbs down and 2Mbs up if you are priviliged enough to live in a Verizon service area that is serviced by FIOS, and then you are paying about the same as what Hong Kong residents do for 20 and 50 times the bandwidth. You can find more information about Broadband connectivity at Broadbandreports.com.
